Getting Started – Installing the Player

Before you can begin, a small multimedia player will be installed for you. This player will allow you to see, hear, and interact with the courseware on our Learn2university® site.  This download is necessary only once - it won't have to be installed again. This installation takes around 3 minutes over a 28.8 modem and will happen automatically.

You may be presented with a Security Warning dialog box that asks if you want to grant privileges to install and run the Learn2 Multimedia player. This player has passed all required safety and security tests. Please press the Grant button if you see this dialog box. Click here to get Player/Plug-In

System Requirements
We recommend that you have either a Pentium class computer running Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT4, ME, 2000, or XP with a minimum of 16MB of RAM; or a Macintosh PowerPC computer running Mac OS 8.0 or 9.0 (OS 10 is not supported) with a minimum of 32MB of RAM. Learn2 also requires that you have a browser running on your computer, with an active Internet connection. We recommend Netscape Navigator 4.5 or higher, Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher, or AOL 4.0 or higher. If you are accessing the Internet via a modem, we require a 28.8 modem or faster. You will also need an audio device (sound card) installed on your computer.

What is Learn2university®?

Learn2university® is the world’s finest interactive, multimedia, web-based distance learning distribution system.  Learn2university® revolutionizes web-based "just-in-time" learning and performance support to deliver multimedia rich content to your desktop, anytime and from anywhere, so you can access your training from the office or from home.  You can use Learn2university® to learn new skills or brush up on existing skills, or to prepare for a classroom training session.

What is a player and why is it needed?

A player is an accessory program that provides additional functions for a main application program.  In this case, the player is required to play the content on our site.

If I use both Netscape and Internet Explorer (or AOL) as my browser, do I need to install the player twice?

Yes, because the players are different for Netscape and Internet Explorer, you would need to install a separate player for each browser.

Can I use Learn2university® at home?

Yes, because Learn2university® is a web-enabled learning solution, as long as you have Internet access at home, you will be able to access your training.  Just make sure that your home computer meets the basic system requirements outlined above.

What should I do if I cannot hear the audio in a course?

If you cannot hear the audio, you should first verify that your computer has sound capabilities.  If your computer does have sound, make sure that your speakers are plugged in, turned on, and the volume is turned up. You should also go to the Control Panel on your computer, select Multimedia, and make sure your volume is turned up.
