Make a Flower Bed
Flower power
There's nothing quite like a beautiful flower garden. Planting flowers and helping them thrive and grow over the seasons can connect you to the cycle of nature in a way few other hobbies will. If you want to start a flower bed but don't know where to begin, read on. With a little patience and work, you'll be able to watch your garden grow in no time.
Before you head out to scatter seeds in any old corner, think about what you're competing with. Do you have pets? Children? A grill or picnic area? Pick a spot for your flowers that's away from high traffic areas, or consider enclosing an area for pets or kids to play. It can be very frustrating to carefully cultivate your garden only to have it destroyed by a few minutes of romping.
Finally, gardening is not for the impatient or squeamish. It requires a whole lot of waiting, watching, and playing in the dirt. The rewards, however, are countless. Once you've watched your first bud bloom, you'll have a green thumb for life.
