Step 3Cast a stone (even if you're a sinner)

Now you're going to throw that rock over the limb you've chosen. Since you've secured the rope onto the rock, it'll follow the rock over the limb, and hang down the other side.

  • Use either an overhand or underhand throw to toss the rock over the limb. All that matters are the results--the rock and rope will travel over the limb and hang down the other side. Throw the rock and rope near the far end of the limb (away from the trunk), but make sure the limb is thick enough to support the weight of the food.
  • Quite a few tries may be necessary before you're satisfied with your rope placement. Keep at it-- practice makes perfect.
  • Once the rock is over the limb, it'll probably hang there swinging. Flick the rope a few times to lower the rock. Once you can reach it, pull it to the ground.
