Change Your Desktop Icons (for Macintosh)
(continued)
Copy the icon
Just like text, you need to make a copy of the new icon before you can paste it over the old one. The steps are as follows:
- Once the icon file is on your desktop, click it once to highlight it, then click on the File menu and scroll down to Get Info. (For a shortcut, you can press the Command key and the "I" key simultaneously after highlighting the file.)
- A dialog box will appear with general information regarding the icon file (when it was created, modified, and so on). At the top-left corner of the box, you'll see a picture of the icon. Click on it and a border will surround the picture.
- When this happens, click on the Edit menu and scroll down to Copy (or press Command and C simultaneously).
- Close the Get Info box and move on to the last step.
