Learn2 Improve Your Posture

Hey Quasimodo! Straighten up!

Are ya feelin' like a grouch as you slouch on the couch? Well sit up straight and you'll start feeling great!

Posture has a lot to do with how you feel and how others see you. Think about it: if someone wants to take your picture, do you stand tall and smile or hunch your shoulders? Presenting yourself with confidence will have a positive effect on your overall well being. You'll feel better, look better, and you'll experience myriad health benefits.

So get ready to reduce back pain, neck tension, muscle stiffness and more. By following these simple steps, you'll be on your way to developing a healthier, happier, more photogenic you.

Before You Begin

Maintaining good posture doesn't mean standing (or sitting) uncomfortably straight. It has more to do with knowing how to position yourself properly while also feeling relaxed--and doing so on a regular basis. As long as you practice it regularly, good posture will become second nature.

While you can perform some strengthening exercises to improve your posture, your health care provider is the person who can best describe what's right for you. Once you develop a regimen, plan on doing it daily. Consider it an investment in feeling better now and avoiding future problems.

Meanwhile, start with learning what basic posture is all about and how to achieve it when sitting, standing and even lying down.
