2torial #0672:
Learn2 Get
Around in Quark Xpress
Quark without cracking up
QuarkXpress, one of the two dominant page layout
programs on the market today, is an extremely
powerful and versatile application useful for
creating anything from a holiday card to a weekly
magazine. While it takes time and experience to
discover all that QuarkXpress can do, it takes just
a short while to understand the basics of the
program.
Here are some key concepts you should understand
before getting down to business:
- A QuarkXpress document is made up of one or
more pages. Text and graphics are placed on a
page by creating "boxes" that are then filled
with either words or images. Guides are
generally created to assist you in placing these
boxes in the proper positions.
- A number of tools are available to help you
create, and modify either type of box. Tools are
also supplied to enable you to modify the
contents of those boxes. The ability to use all
these tools effectively makes a Quark pro.
