When the brewing is complete, stir to combine (the coffee at the bottom of the pot is stronger than what's on top). For a French press: Pour the proper amount of water directly over the grounds; stir to blend. Wait a moment, then stir again. Position the plunger mechanism on top of the carafe, wait only 3-5 minutes, then push the plunger to the bottom of the pot to separate the brew from the grounds.
